Announcements:

  • The database is being updated with information from Dr. Peter Zwick's database on a daily basis. Of Zwick's 6764 total taxon records at all hierarchical levels, we have imported 5,970 of these to which you now have access.

The Plecoptera Species File website includes valid names, their synonyms, and links to references for stonefly species of the world. Soon, morphological, biogeographical, ecological, and behavioral information will be available.

Names were graciously provided by Joel Hallan and are current through 2007. Valid species names are now available. Synonyms will be provided later. The Plecoptera Species File will be merged with the data in Prof. Peter Zwick's electronic catalogue by mid-2008, improving this resource tremendously. Other stonefly systematists are encouraged to assume an active role in the maintenance of this resource.

To see information contained in the database, use the links across the top of the page.  Click on Search to find a specific taxon or other kinds of information.  Clicking on Taxa will make the order Plecoptera your current taxon unless you have previously moved to a different taxon in this session.

This website and database use Species File Software.  Information about the design and use of SFS may be found on a separate website.
